Jaipur cop on patrol finds his own house burgled
JAIPUR: A senior Jaipur cop prowling the streets late Sunday night to crack down on crime returned the next morning to find his own locked house burgled, leaving many in the force red-faced at the loot-and-scoot "operation".
No leads yet

The thieves had jumped over the boundary wall and broken the lock on the main gate of additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP) Sitaram Mahich's house in Murlipura area.
Exhausted from night duty, the 58-year-old walked in early Monday to find his home in disarray, with his cupboards ransacked and items strewn all over. The suspects made off with Rs 10,000 in cash and jewellery, the total value of which is still being determined by his family. Mahich's family was travelling Sunday night. Local Murlipura cops arrived soon to gather evidence and scan for fingerprints, smarting from the embarrassment of investigating a crime that occurred at the home of one of their senior officials. CCTV footage was examined but there was no headway yet. Teams have fanned out to round up suspects and gather information.
According to another senior official, Mahich was overseeing a group of senior officers on night patrol. He, along with four assistant commissioners, was responsible for patrolling the city's four districts-East, West, North, and South. The night patrol team is tasked with responding to emergencies and tackling criminal activities.
For several months, Jaipur police have been releasing the names and phone numbers of patrolling officers to the public, so people in need can contact them. But the irony of the supervisory officer himself falling victim to crime has left many cops squirming.
